Dreaded dacoit shot dead in encounter in Chitrakoot

Dreaded dacoit, Ghanshyam Kewat, who had engaged some 400 securitymen for over 52 hours, was finally shot on Thursday in an encounter with police in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh.

Sources said that Ghanshyam was killed in village Jamauli in Rajapur area, over 120 kms from Allahabad, when he was challenged by the police, who lost its four men in the fierce encounter. 

Before that dacoit fled towards the jungle after jumping from the house where he was hiding and firing at the policemen since Tuesday.On Wednesday three policemen were killed and six others injured in a fierce encounter with the dacoit. 

A team of security personnel surrounded Kewat, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, and his gang.
