Do you donate blood?

Every year millions of people die due to lack of blood, because it is said that every three seconds someone needs blood. This proves the importance of blood donation. There are lots of myths about blood donation like a vegetarian can't donate blood as their blood does not have enough iron. But these kinds of myths are not true. Anyone up to the age of 60 who is fit and healthy can give blood. But remember if you are pregnant or breast feeding you can't give blood, you need it for yourself and your baby, lol! donate blood

You must know there are many advantages of blood donation, let's check out..

  • Due to blood donation the count of blood cells decreases in our body, which stimulates the bone marrow to produce new red blood cells in order to replenish the loss. This helps to stimulate the production of new blood cells and refreshes the system.
  • Blood donation is an excellent way to get rid of excess iron accumulated in our body due to its overconsumption. Excessive of iron causes Hemochromitosis, a genetic disorder. This condition may lead to organ damage.
  •  Blood donation helps to alleviate some major health problems like heart diseases. It has been observed that increase in blood iron level increases the chance of heart disease. Increases blood iron level favors this process of cholesterol oxidation and thus leads to heart disease. Regular blood donation helps especially males in loosing iron on regular basis. It helps in reducing the chance of heart attack to one third.

Is This a Turning Point For Iranian Feminism?

women-protest-tehran1.jpgWith all the attention that the Iranian election protests are getting, some focus is being drawn to an incredibly important issue: women's rights .

Right now, women in Iran are legally second-class citizens. An NPR segment talking about recent women's protests said that women are considered one-half of men. A woman's life is valued at half of a man's and her testimony in court is only worth half of what a man's is. This also means that women have less say in cases of inheritance, divorce and custody.

But Iranian women are sick of the inequality and they have been demonstrating. A few days before the election hundreds of women marched through Tehran protesting gender discrimination. Ever since the contest, women have been marching alongside men in droves to protest the results.

The feminist movement is nothing new, says journalist Roya Hakakian in an interview with Forbes. She left the country at 18 and hasn't been back, but remembers the revolution of the late 1970s, and watched the women's movement grow from afar through the 1990s. Hakakian said that Zahra Rahnavard, wife of the (allegedly) defeated presidential challenger Mir Hossein Moussavi, has been instrumental in rallying the most recent activity of Iranian feminists. CNN identified Rahnavard as 'much-admired academic' who wants to reform civil and family laws.

Ahmadinejad's rule has been incredibly detrimental for women. He has promoted laws that would allow polygamy and tightened censorship to include information on women's health issues. This means that an Iranian woman suffering from something like breast or uterine cancer can't even look her condition up on Web MD, unless she has serious techie knowledge that would allow her to circumvent government blocks. He also instituted the idea of religious 'temporary marriages' basically allowing men to have sex with prostitutes without any consequences.

Some women are even removing their hijabs in public, something that is potentially very shocking for their more conservative countrymen. For a lot of women, the head covering is symbolic and many who would wear it voluntarily for religious or personal reasons are resentful that it is legally required.

In 2006 women started the One Million Signatures campaign, which is basically a massive countrywide pamphlet and petition campaign in response to a violent police attack on a pro-women's rights demonstration in Tehran. They seek to approach Parliament with petitions containing a million signatures asking for better protection of women.

The female vote provided key support for Mir Hossein Moussavi, especially since the sexist Guardian Council banned dozens of women from running for president based on their gender. While Ahmadinejad's continued rule of the country certainly won't help Iranian feminism, some are saying that the sheer size of the protests indicate that there is a turning point on the horizon for women in Iran.

'Size Zero'

This is a debate that can go on and on and everyone will have different opinions! Unfortuantely I have a slow metabolism aswell as polycystic ovaries (which seems to make it near on impossible to lose weight around my middle - god only knows what Victoria Beckhams secret is!!), and am currently slightly overweight at the moment.
There was a programme aired in the UK a couple of weeks ago that was highlighting some of the issues with people trying desperately to get down to size zero. Louise Redknapp (used to be in a girl group called Eternal - can't remember if they ever released anything in America), was given the challenge of slimming down to a size zero within 6 weeks. She is naturally quite a small person anyway as well being healthy and fit so she really did have to put her body under immense pressure to lose the weight. She was practically spending 3 hours a day in the gym and barely seemed to be eating anything at all - yet this was the regime given to her by the "professionals". By week 4 her doctor advised her to stop the programme immediately as it was affecting her some functioning of her vital organs and her immune system aswell. Needless to say, she had got to the point where she was determined to make a point that it could be done, so continued. She did get down to size zero within the time frame - but she certainly didn't look all that healthy, she looked pale and exhausted. It also took her a further 4 weeks to get back into her normal healthy eating routine as her body couldn't digest the food properly.
I suppose the moral of this is that there is so much pressure for young girls to be slim that they are putting their bodies through this - which does unfortuantely result in eating disorders.
In an ideal world we would all accept the way we look and the way others look - but we are certainly not in an ideal world!

Women spurn size-zero look

Kate Winslet

Nearly three - quarters of women would like to be thinner - but most think size zero figures are unattractive, a survey found.

The poll discovered women admired curvy figures like Kate Winslet, Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe more than Madonna's sinewy frame or Victoria Beckham's slim build.

Twenty-three per cent of the 1,206 women questioned were happy with their current dress size and 72 per cent wanted to lose weight, but size 12 was seen as the most desirable figure, with 27 per cent preferring it.

Ninety per cent of the women questioned said the US size zero - equivalent to a UK size four - was unattractive.

Pressure to be thin was felt most strongly among the 16-34 age group (54 per cent). The survey was carried out for The Truth About Size Zero, to be shown on ITV1 at 9pm tomorrow..

CAREY BLASTS SIZE ZERO

American singer MARIAH CAREY has blasted the size zero craze and is urging women to 'embrace' their natural physiques. The Hero hitmaker, who unveiled a svelte new look at VH1's Save the Music gala in New York on Thursday (22Sept07), admits to living on a "bleak diet" to maintain her figure. But Carey, 37, vows never to starve herself to become a "stick figure girl".

She says, "My secret is bleak diets, I still feel like I have a way to go."I don't feel like you have to be a size zero. We should all just embrace who we are physically."I'm not supposed to be a stick figure girl. It's just not me."

MARIAH CAREY

The Hero hitmaker, who unveiled a svelte new look at VH1's Save the Music gala in New York on Thursday (22Sept07), admits to living on a "bleak diet" to maintain her figure.

But Carey, 37, vows never to starve herself to become a "stick figure girl".

She says, "My secret is bleak diets, I still feel like I have a way to go.

"I don't feel like you have to be a size zero. We should all just embrace who we are physically.

"I'm not supposed to be a stick figure girl. It's just not me."

What do you think about zero size? Its good or bad? What is the reason?

Well, if you are talking about the clothing size zero.. I think it's fine. Everyone has different body types. I do think that some people torture themselves to try to attain that "perfection", which is a bad thing.. but I don't think it is a bad thing in general because some people are simply built small. I am far from a zero, but I am short--so I am sure that I could be healthy at that size. Unfortunately, a lot of the woman who fit in size zero are models who are almost six feet tall! I think that is scary because taller people, are more likely to have bigger bones and bigger body frames--which means they would have to go to extreme lengths(in some cases), to reach this "status" symbol(so to speak) size zero. So no, I don't think it's bad.. it's just a number(much like age.. lol).
I agree with you.But some people force to attain that size thats too bad cause it has more side effects I think. But to people who are naturally of that size its good as you say they look good.

I definitely agree--if it's forced then it can definitely be unhealthy. I do think that some of the size zero (or less) models are way too extreme, and in most cases not natural. I feel that way because, while I do believe there are taller people who are naturally small framed, I tend to associate smaller sizes with shorter people--it just makes sense to me. lol

its absolutely very bad!!!!! the zero figure doesn looks good atalll.. there is no shape at all.. people look so ugly than their normal look!!.. i wouldn prefer people to get that look!!!!

Women Still Aiming For Size Zero

180 gucci model

A beautiful size?

More than one in five women between the ages of 18 and 24 want to be a size zero, according to a new poll.

A body image survey revealed in June's WeightWatcher's magazine also found that women struggled to identify a size zero - a size four in UK sizing - model from a line-up of six differently-sized women, with only 3% getting it right.

Out of the poll of more than 1,200 women, 900 of those surveyed estimated the size zero model as between a size 8 and 12.

Six images were presented to women for the survey, ranging from a UK size 4 (US size zero) to a UK size 26.

When asked to guess the sizes of the larger models, the women surveyed tended to underestimate, with more than half the women saying the size 26 model was one or two sizes smaller.

Londoners also seemed to prefer the thinner version, with 20% of respondents in the capital believing men find size zero women most attractive, compared with 11% in the North and Scotland.

Just 5% of women in the capital chose the size zero as the unhealthiest body shape compared with 16% of those in the Midlands and Wales.

Almost a quarter of women in these regions said men would find a size 16 the sexiest body shape but only 17% of Londoners agreed.

Mary Frances, editor of Weight Watchers magazine, said: "Despite all the coverage of obesity and the size zero debate, many of us we still don't recognise what is a healthy weight.

"And it's interesting to discover that location affects body image as well as house prices."

What is size zero figure?

A US size 0 (women) is roughly 31-23-33. I'd say that's pretty kiddish, wouldn't you? When you get to the extremly low women's sizes, the differences should more in the hips and bustline than anything else. I've never seen a natural waistline less than 22 inches around (without anything like waist cinchers, corsets, or surgery).

Kareena Kapoor has finally bid goodbye to her 'size zero' figure. The Jab We Met actress who had one point of time become obsessed with her weight now looks healthier and fitter. Recently the actress was spotted eating her heart out in Italy where she is holidaying with beau Saif Ali Khan. Well this by the same Kareena who was once on liquid diet to reduce her weight.
n an industry where heroines are struggling to get to size zero, actress Sonal Chauhan is a natural size zero. The actress who hit big with her very first film Jannat, is currently exploring possibilities of acting in south films.
She has already done a film called Rainbow in Telugu. The film, directed by V N Adithya achieved moderate success. The success of Rainbow has many producers wanting to rope in the naturally slim actress into their films. The actress says she has many offers in hand, and she is trying to weigh options before freezing on one.
When asked how she maintains her size zero figure, the actress says that it is a natural figure for her, and she does nothing special to maintain herself, in fact she says she is a foodie and just lives to eat junk food all the time. The actress is frank enough to confess that she is lazy too, and hates exercising regularly. Indeed a lucky actress; when all other actresses are losing their sleep over keeping themselves slim, this girl is naturally slender and slim.

The New Marc Jacobs Stam Bags

Throughout time, Marc Jacobs imposed himself in the fashion industry, creating a true label and a visionary line of works.
If Hermes Birkin is among the 50 things one should have during a lifetime, then the Marc Jacobs Stam bag is one of the three classics when it comes to bags, along with a Birkin and a Chanel 2.55.

Marc Jacobs Stam Bags Swarovski
The Stam Bag was named, apparently, after the Canadian top model Jessica Stam.

It comes in numerous shapes and colors, but it definitely has its personality.
There's no doubt about it, this coin-shaped quilted leather purse with the chunky gold chain handle has made history.

Lately, Marc added some new features – just like in his Marc Jacobs Stam Swarovski shoulder bag.

It's a fabulous bag, but some might find it a little over too much, with its chain straps, its blue leather, and now, its Swarovski detailing.

the New Marc Jacobs Stam Bags Safety Pin Satchel and Clutch

Among the arrivals from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 collection, a new Stam bag made its way.
It's called the Marc Jacobs Safety Pin Stam Satchel. It's an unusual and very particular version – as it has two extra large safety pins.

The new Marc Jacobs Safety Pin Stam Satchel is available in Cobalt Blue (shown) or Black. The bag features an updated smooth texture and contrast trim.
It measures 15" x 9.5" x 7", and you can also find a smaller version of this bag, named the Marc Jacobs Safety Pin Clutch.

The biggest influence of the season: the '80s style - is making a definite comeback and this is one thing we shouldn't just ignore.
For this reason, no wonder that the Fall 2009 fashion trends are best described in leather and shoulder pads.

Fall 2009 Color Trends

All collections regarding Fall 2009 are extremely colorful - including neon orange, hot pink, cobalt blue, shades of green and yellow and more; purples, teals and deeper blues, cranberries and reds were also used in many fashion shows. See at Marc Jacobs, Matthew Williamson, Michael Kors and many more.

Fall 2009 Fashion Trends

Strong shoulders and shoulder pads are a must haves in this season.
Some visionary designers used them even before the trend was set, as Balenciaga did for his Spring 2009 collection. Big-shoulder clothes, very much inspired by the '80s, make your posture seem stronger and slims the waist, says designer Phillip Lim, so don't hesitate wearing them!

Fashion 2009 Slim Silhouette Trends

The slim silhouette is timeless - that's why many designers played with proportions, contrasts, textures and lines in order to create the perfect figure. This is how we explain slim cut pants at Ellie Saab and Carolina Herrera, and pencil skirts at Nicole Miller's and Lacoste Fall 2009 collections.

what is good diet tips, exersices to tone arms, thighs, and abs

Answer by sharayu  EXERCISE AND FITNESS  : Walking: Excellent cardiovascular benefits for the advanced age groups.. Should be done briskly with swinging of the arms. Comfortable shoes must be worn. May be done morning or evening for 30-60 minutes. Jogging: Suitable for younger age group below 50 years. 30 minutes is all that is required and may be done continuously, or jog and walk in between when fatigued. The pace of jogging is equal to that of a brisk walkrun on soft or grassy surface. Wear comfortable clothes and breathe freely.
Swimming: For those who know how to swim, 20 minutes of continuous swimming is sufficient. Alternately swim the length of a pool 10-20 metres, rest at the end for 30 seconds, swim back. 10 such lengths is good. Use any stroke you know. They are all of almost equal cardiovascular and muscular benefit.
Cycling: For any age group. Minimum time 45-60 minutes of continuous controlled fast cycling. Cycling up slopes gives added benefit. Ordinary cycles are good enough and indoor stationary exercycles may also be used at low resistance for 45 minutes.
Games: For the fitter younger age group. Get fit first before playing games such as squash, badminton, tennis, handball, basketball, football etc.. Warm up before the games. 30-45 minutes of the game is sufficient. Weekend or once a week games must be avoided unless other fitness programmes are done on other days. Play within your capacity.
Strength Exercises:
Improve muscular strength with 10-20 repetitions of each of these movements.

wake up at night and hungry grab an apple : P
and it's always ok to give yourself a treat but try to keep it down to one or 2 servings a day. have a half cup of icecream or one snack cake as a serving because everyone needs a treat when you're doing good.

How to Get Rid of a Double Chin

Did you eventually notice that little bag you wear around your neck, yes...it's called double-chin, and we must admit that more and more people 'benefit' of this privilege. It is complicated to find the actual reason for its appearance however there are several methods to fight it or get rid of it.Usually, double chin appears due to lack of exercise and obesity but in some cases it's hereditary.
Beside exercise, the easiest way to get rid of it is keeping a healthy diet and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The following exercises will help you get rid of the double chin, without cosmetics surgery. These methods can be used sitting in front of your computer or TV.

Probably the easiest exercise is to keep your chin on your palms and rub the muscles under your jaw. Your muscles must be tightened during this exercise in order to be effective. It is important to keep your tongue at the roof of your mouth. With patience and a few minutes dedicated to this workout you can enjoy its results.

Chewing is a practical method for working your double-chin. The following exercise will require artificial chewing. Look up and imitate this movement, open and close your mouth repeatedly. Practice this exercise several times a day and you can combine it with the other ones.

Sit in a comfortable position than tilt your head to the right, when you feel your muscles stretch keep it for 10 seconds, then change the direction and tilt it to the left. If you will observe, many aerobic exercises start with similar exercises, your face and neck is as important as your body.

The following exercise will give the greatest satisfaction to 'chewing gumaholics'. Exercising certain mimes (preferably in private) and chewing sugar-free gum will keep the muscles of your face 'working'.

How to hid a double chin with makeup
For a quick fix, you can 'hide' a double chin with makeup. By creating shadows you can lengthen your neck and make your double chin less obvious.
Get a matte pressed powder, that's two shades darker then your skin tone. With the help of a makeup brush create a shadow along the base of your jawline to reduce the area beneath.
The shadow will give your jaw more definition and your double chin won't be as noticeable, especially from a distance. Also move the attention from your neck to your eyes, lips and cheekbones.

Don't wear clothes that will accentuate your double chin, that have the neckline right at the limit of your chin, say no to: high necklines, high V-necks, boat necks. Try V-neck nonetheless the deeper the better.
Finally avoid wearing jewelry that can emphasize your double chin, long earrings that end right at the chin area and accessories - as a scarf would only top the image. Instead, wear small stud earrings, lariat and long necklaces, which would distract the attention away from your chin.

Varun hate speech CD 'not doctored', FSL report says

21 June : A CD containing the alleged hate speeches of BJP leader Varun Gandhi, which created a furore ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, was "not doctored", the Hyderabad-based Forensic Science Laboratory has said in its report.

"The FSL report, which was received by police yesterday, has confirmed that the voice in the tapes is that of Varun Gandhi and the CD is not doctored," police officer Mani Ram Rao, who is investigating the cases lodged against Varun for his speeches at public meetings on March 7 and 8, said on Sunday.

Findings of the FSL report were also confirmed by Pilibhit district magistrate Ajay Chauhan, who said, "Though I have not seen the report yet, but I have been told that the FSL had said that the voice contained in the tape is that of Varun Gandhi."

Cases were lodged against 29-year-old Varun for delivering 'hate speeches' during public meeting at Barekhera and Lalauribagh on March 7 and Deshnagar on March 8.These meetings were video-recorded and a CD was prepared in which the young BJP leader was shown making objectionable remarks. Varun, however, had alleged that the CD was doctored and the voice contained in the tape was not that of him.

The CD was later sent to the FSL Hyderabad for testing.Police said that it would soon file a chargesheet in the court in the matter. The Mayawati government had slapped the stringent National Security Act against Varun and he had to spend nearly three weeks in jail. Later, the Supreme Court quashed the charges under NSA against him.

In New Delhi, Varun's mother and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi termed the report as "one-sided"."We will answer and prove in the court that the tapes are doctored," she told reporters.

Saina becomes first Indian to win Super Series

21 June : Ace woman shuttler Saina Nehwal on Saturday scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament after she clinched the Indonesian Open title with a stunning victory over higher ranked Chinese Lin Wang in Jakarta

Saina clinched her maiden Super Series title beating Wang 12-21 21-18 21-9 in an edge-of-the-seat thriller that lasted 49 minutes. Her triumph is the best ever performance by any Indian woman and at par with All England Championship titles won by Prakash Padukone and her current coach Pullela Gopichand.

In the thrilling final, world number eight Saina came from behind to outsmart world number three Wang and avenge her last week's Singapore Open Super Series loss to the same rival.

Saina took time to get into the groove as she struggled to gauge the gameplan of Wang in the first game. Wang opened a 4-9 lead and rode on her smashes and better net play o pocket the first game as Saina was left to do the catchup act.

But the Indian ace rallied her way back in the second game. Saina levelled the score at 5-5 and then moved together with her Chinese rival till 17-17 before surging ahead to pocket the second game 21-18.

Size zero is very unhealthy and the celebrities are setting a bad example to their fans. Some women try to attain it at whatever the cost to their long-term health and even fertility. It has become an obsession with many young girls. They starve themselves and then develop eating disorders. Instead of that, one should exercise regularly and have healthy eating habits, which will help the body to stay in shape. There has been a ban on the size zero models on the ramp following the controversy started in August 2007 when a Uraguayan model, Luisel Ramos, 22, died of heart failure after starving herself. And a 21-year-old Brazilian model, Ana Carolina Reston, died from anorexia.

Advani calls for immediate halt to blame game in BJP

21 June : Grappling with the electoral debacle, the BJP on Sunday sent out a strong message that it was not giving up Hindutva nor severing its links with the RSS but party veteran L K Advani called for immediate halt to blamegame and bickerings being aired in the media.

In the first major speech on the party's performance, Advani, whose bid for Prime Ministership failed in the elections, said honest introspection was necessary but open airing of views is wrong.

"We should not be found wanting in honest introspection. But introspection is different from finger-pointing. Let us treat the outcome of the elections as behoves a mature and highly resilient party," he said in his concluding remarks at the executive.

In a veiled reference to the attacks by leaders like Jaswant Singh, Sinha and Shourie, Advani said leaders and workers should feel that there is an internal mechanism where even critical views can be placed.

"The only constraint on the participants in this exercise, which is an important part of the BJP's culture of discipline, is that they should not air their critical views in public," he said.

The emphasis on collective responsibility, as pointed out by Venkaiah Naidu, is seen in party circles as an effort to cushion former general secretary Arun Jaitley, who was BJP's chief election strategist, from attacks by several senior leaders.

Remote tribal villages to have bio gas plants soon; 2000 already installed

Bhopal:Sunday, June 21, 2009: Biogas plants will be set up on the demand of families in three thousand tribal-dominated villages in the state. So far, 2000 bio gas plants have been set up. Encouraged by the use and benefits of bio gas plants, the poor tribal families have started thinking of thinking of making bio gas plants a source of their livelihoods. Shyambai and her husband Vijay Singh of village Mehroi in Gohparu block of Shahdol district have innovated a novel of way of using bio bas to run diesel pump set for operating a flourmill.

Encouraged by the Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project, Shyambai came forward and installed a biogas plant. "I am now freed from irritating smoke, gathering fuel wood, she says listing the benefits bio gas plant. Shyambai's husband already owns diesel-operated flourmill that is the sole source of earnings for his family. Having installed the bio gas and received scientific knowledge he used biogas to run diesel pump. The MPRLP field staff informed him about the benefits of using biogas for operating floor mill. "I am saving fuel as well as money, he says.

Asked about the economics of operating floor mill using bio-gas Vijay Singh said that he runs the flourmill two hours daily for which about 150 litres of diesel is consumed per month at the rate of 1.25 litre per hour. Now only half a litre of diesel is consumed per hour, saving me substantially.

Shyambai says that that everyday mixture of 75 kg cow-dung and water is fed into the plant, which generates biogas for three hours daily. It is used in operating the flourmill and cooking food.

According to Project Facilitation Team Coordinator Shri Vinod Singh 28 families of Mehroi village have set up biogas plants. Motivated by the initiative, more families have shown interest in bio gas plants. Pratibha Nat of the same village says that she uses the slurry as organic manure and is getting organic vegetables. Sarpanch Tejan Singh said that these efforts would help make our village an ideal village.

Pakistan is T20 World Champion 2009

21 June :  Shahid Afridi struck an exuberant unbeaten 54 to take Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Twenty20 World Cup final at Lord's on Sunday.Afridi, the man at the heart of Pakistan's revival with bat and ball after they lost their opening game to England, stood and saluted the thousands of elated Pakistani supporters after hitting two sixes and two fours.

He was named man-of-the-match after his team had completed an easy victory with eight balls to spare against the previously unbeaten Sri Lankans. It was the second global one-day title for Pakistan after Imran Khan's side rallied in similar fashion to win the 1992 50- over World Cup. Pakistan lost the inaugural Twenty20 final in 2007 to India.

The match was effectively won in the six powerplay overs of the Sri Lanka innings with the fielding restrictions in place.Abdul Razzaq claimed a wicket in each of his first three overs, removing Jehan Mubarak for a duck, Sanath Jayasuriya for 17 and Mahela Jaywardene for one after 17-year-old Mohammad Amir had dismissed the tournament's top scorer Tillakaratne Dilshan for nought.

Razzaq had been recalled to the side after two years in the rebel Indian Cricket League as an injury replacement for Yasir Arafat.Sri Lanka looked down and out after struggling to 78 for six with fives overs remaining.

Crucially, though, captain Kumar Sangakkara was still at the crease and his partnership with the increasingly impressive Angelo Mathews transformed the innings. The pair scored 59 runs off the last five overs with Sangakkara unbeaten on 64 from 52 balls and Mathews on 35 from 24.

Sangakkara, looking to continue that momentum, switched his bowlers around continually but Pakistan never looked in trouble and eased to their target on a sun-baked evening.

Policy of radical Hindutva boomeranged on the BJP

By TANVEER JAFRI : In India while the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has started its second consecutive term, the main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party which faced an enormous defeat this time, has not been able to come out of shock. Instead, there are daily incidents of accusations on one another within the party, for defeat in the elections. Even some party leaders have questioned the main agenda of the party i.e. the radical Hindutva. Strategists of the BJP gave it the name 'Party with a difference'. By the use of this strange adjective, the 'proficient' leaders of the party tried to tell the people that their party is very much different from that of other political parties. Party strategists tried to establish the identity of the BJP as the most disciplined and incorruptible party of India. But, since the party came to power under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee, and till today, the realities which people have witnessed of the BJP, it has proved wrong, all the claims of the party strategists. In fact, after the recent defeat of the party, it seems that the BJP has become the 'Party with differences', rather than the 'Party with difference'. Voices of dissent which we are hearing today perhaps are unprecedented within any political party of India.

Strategists of the BJP now seem to be trapped in their own net. The journey of promoting aggressive Hindutva started with the controversial 'Toyota' Rath Yatra by Lal Krishna Advani in 1990, which ultimately helped the BJP to reach its culmination of 183 seats in 1999 general elections. As a result, the party strategists assumed the policy of radical Hindutva as evergreen success formula. Since December 6, 1992 to Godhra carnage & post-Godhra massacre, the BJP continuously tried to polarise the Indian politics on communal lines. Thousands of innocent Indians, both the Hindus and the Muslims, lost their lives in this dangerous game of communalism, played by the party. Even though the people of the country might not have liked it, but politicians like L.K. Advani, Narendra Modi and organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) blindly continued their mission of spreading venom of communalism.

People of India ultimately taught a lesson to BJP that this is the country of 'Unity in Diversity'. The nation wants development instead of entangling in the anti-developmental issues like temple, mosque, religion, casteism and communalism. The party strategists completely tried to follow the path of radical Hindutva and to get results out of it, the party taken support of the RSS and its sister organizations, the VHP & the Bajrang Dal. Besides this, the party used two young Muslim mascots, which it repeatedly presented via media to show the nation and the world, its 'secular' credentials. But in recent elections, this 'disciplined' and 'party with a difference', was ruined so badly by the people that the same party strategists of the party started rendering each other responsible for this defeat.

The biggest question facing the BJP today is- what is the future of the party hitherto surviving on the Ram Temple issue, aggressive Hindutva and communal riots? On one hand, the BJP defended Varun Gandhi for his hate speech against the Muslims, on the other side; by adopting double standards, the party tried to distance itself from his objectionable comments. This same tendency of double standards has got the BJP at such position, where only differences seem to exist. Advani, who during the entire election campaign tried to prove Dr. Manmohan Singh a weak and inert Prime Minister, is now apologising for his uncivilized language. Differences in the party have reached to such an extent that some leaders, differing from the policy of Hindutva, have started questioning the relevance of radical Hindutva. Many such leaders are of the view that the defence and support of Varun Gandhi proved costly to the party.

Not only the BJP is thinking on the policy of radical Hindutva, even there is debate within the RSS, the source of Hindutva, itself. A senior leader of the RSS has too favoured a rethink on Hindutva by the BJP. Indeed many strategists of the BJP and the RSS are now thinking of the future strategy to be followed for extending its support among the Indian masses. In the journey of communal churning, since last two decades, from their commencement to conclusion, these communal forces have understood that a bullet can be fired only once. So, there is need to take a new 'slough'. These forces have understood that the voter of the nation is getting more aware by the day. The issues of Amarnath shrine land allotment, Sadhvi Pragya & Col. Purohit's involvement in Malegaon  bombing, Varun's venomous speech, Gujarat of Narendra Modi and the Ram Temple, Common Civil Code, and Article 370 are not seen by the people in the way the party wants them to see. Instead, people have understood the all the communal issues like these are just the electoral tools and propaganda of the BJP. Consequently, the party is today far away from power.

The BJP, hitherto proud of the aggressive style of speaking of Narendra Modi, is now in the position of serious thought that which style is acceptable to the voters- Aggressive & uncivilised or soft-spoken & cultured? The BJP stands unmasked of its Hindutva. People of the country have understood that in fact the main objective behind following the path of Hindutva was to come in power by suppressing and insulting the minorities, particularly Muslims. Besides, the aware voters are also of the view that nation can't develop in the atmosphere of communal and religious tensions. The BJP might be trying to show any picture of Gujarat through publicity and advertisement, but by seeing the adverse effects on business of Gujarati people as a result of communal riots, their ruined homes, and refugee camps; one can imagine where the Gujarat formula would take the country.

This saffron organization, which claims to be most disciplined, has now become a case of indiscipline. Certainly, it is a challenge before the BJP, which hitherto promoted communalism through godmen and party workers, that how it would acquire secular values after the six decades of independence? Time will tell that during this tedious process, the party would get more integrated or disintegrated. Later, how would the people view the new face of the party? Nationalist or Opportunist?
