VIKHO-O YHOSHÜ GRACES OLD AGE DAY AT PHESAMA

The 4th Old Age Day for 70 years and above was observed at Phesama Village Panchayal Hall on 14th June 2009 with Advisor IT&TE and Chairman DAN, Vikho-o Yhoshü as the chief guest.  The programme was organised by Rüsie Kezhü Society.

Vikho-o in his speech thanked the society for inviting him and giving the opportunity to address the village elders. He lauded the Rüsie Kezhü Society for organising such programme, which is being held for the first time in the area where old age group of a particular village get together. He said that through God's blessing and the support from the elders he had been chosen to represent the area. He also assured to do his best for development and upliftment of the area. He said that in the past the elders had done their best physically and mentally for the village and said that even today the youngsters need their guidance and advice to step forward. He wished them all good health, long and cheerful life.

Highlighting the history of the Society, Kesotuo said that the Society was formed in 1986 and was registered as a government society in the year 2000. The society has 24 members, of which 21 are men and 3 are women. He added that from the formation of the Society till date, Vilelie Khamo 1st Class Contractor had helped the society financially. Others who spoke on the occasion included Vilelie Khamo and Khel representatives. Special song was presented by Rüsie Society, while Rüsie Kezhü Society Women Group presented folk songs. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Secretary, Rüsie Kezhü Society, Tsilie. The chief guest also distributed milk, sugar and tea leaves to the old age group and Vilelie donated Rs. 50,000/- towards the Society.

The programme was chaired by Khievizo. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev. Vilhounei-o, while prayer for the elders was offered by four Pastors of different Churches. Others who attended the programme included SAPO President Phelhoukhwe, CDPO Jakhama and village leaders. About 47 women and 22 men, aged 70 years and above attended the function, among whom the oldest was Neishelie Karmo, aged 96 years.
