Drinking water facility to every household

June 16, 2009   : All efforts would be made to provide drinking water facility to every household in far-flung and remote areas of the State. Irrigation and Public Health Minister, Shri Ravinder Singh Ravi stated this, while addressing a mammoth gathering on the concluding ceremony of 'Lt. Hari Singh Volleyball and Kabaddi Tournaments' at Chopal today.

While lauding the efforts of the organisers, the Minister said that our traditional games like wrestling, kabaddi and volleyball etc. has maintained their dignity, glory and importance in rural and semi rural areas of the State. People from all walks of life gather in abundance to watch these competitions.

He said that sports hostel exclusively for kabaddi players would be looked into for Chopal as kabaddi players of this area have represented at National and International levels. He said that he would also take up the matter with Department of Youth Services and Sports on priority.

The Minister also announced a sum of Rs. five lacs for renovation of Lt. Hari Singh stadium at Chopal. The Minister also distributed prizes to the participants and presented winning trophy of volleyball to A.G. H.P. Shimla. It is pertinent to mention that the final match was between the A.G., HP and Himachal Police team.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Virender Kashyap, MP thanked the people of Chopal for giving him mandate in recent Lok Sabha Elections. Earlier, the President of Chopal Cultural and Sports Club, Jagdish Zinta welcomed the Minister. The Minister also released souvenir on the occasion.

Earlier, Minister laid the foundation stones of Flow Drinking Water Supply Schemes (FWSS), which include FWSS- Kayari, Dogri and Bhuran (47.42 lac) under Gram Panchayat Sarahan, FWSS-Gayaoo and Serti (18.01 lac) and FWSS –Karai (25.70 lac) under G.P. Khaddar when completed these would benefit population of around two thousand of nine villages falling under above Gram Panchayats. He further said that Rs. 88 lacs has been released for Seri Water Supply Scheme by NABARD and assured water supply scheme for Churdhar temple and sewerage system in Chopal.

Shri Virender Kashyap, MP, Shri Virendra Kanwar, MLA, were present on the occasion among others.
